How we work together

Everyone works differently.
So bookkeeping support shouldn’t be one-size-fits-all.

This is what working together actually looks like – in real life – and what happens if you decide to go ahead.

What support can look like

Your Books: Checked

You do the bookkeeping. I review, guide and handle your tax return.

Meet Lara.

Lara is self-employed and confident with the day-to-day running of her business.
She keeps on top of her bookkeeping most of the time, but wants reassurance that she’s doing things correctly.

She records income and expenses regularly.
Receipts are uploaded to her software as she goes.

If she's unsure about anything, she pings me a quick message on WhatsApp.

Each quarter, I review Lara’s books:

  • I check everything has been recorded correctly
  • I fix small errors
  • I flag anything that needs her attention
  • I send her a quarterly profit report and tax estimate, so she knows where she stands and can plan ahead.

At the end of the tax year, I prepare and submit her self-assessment. When she needs to comply with Making Tax Digital, I'll take care of these submissions too.

Lara stays fully in control of her bookkeeping, with the reassurance that nothing important is being missed.

Your Books: Checked – Together

Includes everything in Your Books: Checked, with additional nudges and accountability.

Meet Hannah.

Hannah is self-employed and brilliant at what she does.
Her energy goes into her clients. Admin usually comes last.

Some months she keeps on top of her books.
Other months, bookkeeping waits until she has a bit of headspace.

She records income when she can.
Receipts are snapped on her phone and uploaded in batches – sometimes messy, sometimes late.

That’s okay.

At the start, we agree what support looks like for Hannah.

At pre-agreed points in the month, I send short WhatsApp nudges – things like:

  • Uploading receipts
  • Checking bank matches
  • Sending client invoices

They’re just nudges.
There’s no pressure to reply, and no need to explain if she hasn’t done it yet.

Some months, Hannah asks for a short video call.

We book 20 minutes.
No agenda.
No small talk.

She works on her bookkeeping, knowing I’m there if she gets stuck or has a question.
That short burst of focused time is often a game changer.

Each quarter, I review Hannah’s books properly.
I fix small errors, flag anything important, and make sure nothing is slipping through.

I also send her a clear profit report and tax estimate, so she knows where she stands.

From April, Hannah also needs to comply with Making Tax Digital.
Rather than working to the official deadline, we agree an earlier personal deadline that gives breathing space.

It won’t always be perfect – life happens – but knowing there’s someone there to give her the nudge she needs means she no longer leaves everything until the last minute.

Bookkeeping & Tax: Covered

I handle the bookkeeping. You stay informed and concentrate on running the business.

Meet Sophie.

Sophie runs a busy small business.
She already has enough to think about day to day.

She doesn’t want bookkeeping on her to-do list at all.

She uploads receipts and invoices via an app as and when she receives them.
If something unusual crops up, she flags it.

Then she gets on with running her business.

I handle the day-to-day bookkeeping, keep everything up to date, and make sure all tax and MTD obligations are met.

Sophie receives regular profit updates and tax estimates, explained clearly and in plain language.

She knows where she stands without having to think about bookkeeping.

Support feels calm, hands-off, and taken care of.

A quick but important note...

There’s no fixed way this has to work.

Some clients want reminders.
Some want quiet accountability.
Some want space until they ask for help.

Support is agreed with you – not imposed on you – and it can change as your business and capacity change.
